Procedures for Entering the United States
When you arrive in the United States, you must show valid travel documents as part of the entry process.
The documents you need and whether your passport needs to be valid for six months after your travel dates depend on the country you are arriving from and your citizenship or status.

Canadian citizens can present a valid Passport, Driver’s License and birth certificate, Treaty card or Trusted Traveler Program card (NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST).

Canadian citizen children under the age of 16 (or under 19, if traveling with a school, religious group, or other youth group) need only present a birth certificate or other proof of citizenship. The birth certificate can be original, photocopy, or certified copy.

If you are a permanent residents you can travel into the U.S.A only if you apply for a travellers visa. Two website for you to apply for a visa if you would still like to travel to the U.S. Non-Immigrant Visa process;

As per Emerson Border crossing: Do not bring uncooked food, vegetables, or fresh fruit on Board

The trip will be 48 hours long and there will be a $800.00 exemption.
You can bring back the following withing the $800.00
· Tobacco: 50 Cigars, 7 tins of chewing tobacco, a carton of 200 cigarettes
· Liquor: either one 40 ounce of booze or 4 cans of vodka drinks, 270ml of wine, or one 24 Case of beer (only)

If under 48hours there will only be $200.00 exemption.
· Tobacco and Booze will be taxes heavily and not be worth purchasing
Luggage Allowance
Passengers may check one piece of Luggage, Luggage must not weigh more than 50 lbs (23 kg) each and must be no larger than 30"x21"x11" (62" linear dimensions) in size.
Passengers are permitted to bring one carry-on bag that can fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you, not to exceed 15 lbs (6.8 kg).
